Zelensky assures US of non-interference in elections

Ukraine has never allowed and will not allow itself to interfere in the electoral process of other countries in the future, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Earlier, the director of the US National Center for Counterintelligence and Security, William Evanina, said that the Russian authorities “are using a number of measures” to denigrate former US Vice President Joe Biden and what they consider to be an “anti-Russian establishment.” At the same time, they strive to support incumbent leader Donald Trump.

As an example, he cited “pro-Russian Ukrainian parliamentarian” Andriy Derkach, who, he said, spreads statements about corruption in order to “undermine the candidacy of former Vice President Biden and the Democratic Party”.



“Once again I assure our partners that Ukraine did not allow and will not allow itself to interfere in the elections in the future and thereby damage our trusting and sincere partnership with the United States,” Zelensky said in the Office of the President of Ukraine.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that the Ukrainian partners have no less respectful attitude towards the sovereign right of Ukraine to freely choose national priorities.

Zelensky also believes that Ukrainians should, “to put it mildly, refrain from any activity related to the presidential elections in the United States, and not allow themselves to try to solve any of their personal political or business problems on this”.

Ukraine’s reputation is worth much more than the reputation of any of our politicians. Therefore, let’s not trade Ukraine for situational benefits, “the Ukrainian president added.
