Yan knocks out Sterling with an illegal punch and loses UFC belt

Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Petr Yan has been disqualified following a fight with American Aljemain Sterling.

The fight took place as part of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. Yan defended the organization’s bantamweight belt. In the fourth round, the Russian knocked out Sterling with a forbidden blow. The referee stopped the fight and decided to disqualify Ian.

Yan stabbed an opponent in the head with a knee while Sterling was not on his feet. This move is illegal under UFC rules.

Yan dropped the UFC bantamweight belt and suffered his first defeat in the organization.
