Xiaomi will slow down charging in smartphones when replacing the battery

Xiaomi has decided to follow the path of Apple and intends to fight the installation of third-party batteries in its smartphones.

Enthusiasts from XDA Developers dug into the new version of the Mi Security software. They found that Xiaomi has expanded the functionality of the app. Now it will give a notification that the smartphone does not have a proprietary battery.

Mi Security v5.6.0 will inform users about the need to replace the battery only in authorized services. The software will also remind you that the use of a third-party battery may harm the device. In smartphones with “unauthorized” batteries, Xiaomi will cut the charging speed.

Who will be affected?
So far, the innovation is relevant exclusively for Chinese users of the Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro models. It is not known whether the company will change its policy regarding battery replacement in other countries.
