Xiaomi partner creates a self-cleaning mask against COVID-19

The Chinese company Huami, Xiaomi became the main investor and partner, told TechCrunch about the principles of operation of the Aeri mask with filters and the ultraviolet disinfection system. It is enough to connect the power to the mask for 10 minutes so that she herself cleans the filters from the inside.

Huami mask stands out in several ways. First of all, it will be made of transparent plastic so that people can use smartphones with unlocking in the face – these are not only modern iPhones but also some Android models.

The Chinese company Huami, Xiaomi became the main investor and partner, told about the Aeri mask with filters and the ultraviolet disinfection system.

For protection, the mask uses the N95 filter system, which is considered the most effective against coronavirus and other similar infections. Huami representatives say that these masks will be designed primarily for ordinary people, not doctors. Filters can be used several times, for this you need to periodically connect the mask to power via USB and turn on the ultraviolet.

However, the manufacturer warns that ultraviolet light only cleans the inside of the mask and filters; the mask will have to be cleaned manually from the outside using improvised means. According to developers, due to ultraviolet radiation, the filter will effectively protect the carrier for a month and a half. The mask can be used in cities with poor ecology, air pollution, as well as people with severe allergies.

Huami plans to produce accessories for the Aeri mask. Through a special connector, you can connect an air analyzer or an additional ventilation system to make it easier to breathe.

At the moment, Huami has already shown the prototype of the Aeri mask but continues to improve it. The company is not yet ready to indicate the launch date and price of the mask, because product development may be delayed.
