Xiaomi will no longer release smartphones running a “clean” version of Android OS.
According to the German edition SmartDroid, citing an official source, the Chinese manufacturer has left the Android One program. This means waiting for the release of the Xiaomi Mi A4 smartphone (the successor to Mi A3) is definitely not worth it. Why the company took such a step is unknown. Presumably, it’s all about software support. Xiaomi has had big problems updating these devices lately. Firmware came out with a lot of errors. They were often detained and reissued.
Android One is owned by Google. It was announced in 2014 so that third-party companies could release smartphones on “pure” Android with good performance and timely updates. Now, of the major manufacturers, only HMD Global is engaged in the production of such devices.
