Xiaomi’s business gained new momentum in key markets last year. According to Canalys, in the fourth quarter of 2020, the Chinese manufacturer entered the top three in terms of smartphone shipments with a market share of 15.3%. The company also ranked first in Central and Eastern Europe due to a 17.5% increase in smartphone shipments over the previous year (24.7% market share). In Western Europe, Xiaomi has retained its position in the top three. Smartphone shipments for the year grew by 57.3%, and the market share was 10.9%. By the way, in Spain, Xiaomi ranked first in terms of shipments four quarters in a row with a market share of 27%. In addition, compared to the previous year, in the fourth quarter of 2020, smartphone shipments grew 86.2% in France, 61.6% in Italy and 139.8% in Germany.
In total, Xiaomi shipped 146.4 million smartphones in 2020 (an annual growth of 17.5%). Of these, 10 million are “premium” (devices with a price tag of 300 euros and above).
As for the IoT technology, everything is fine here too. There were 324.8 million devices connected in 2020 (38% annual growth). Of these, 6.2 million users have 5 or more gadgets. Every month, the Mi Home app is used by 45 million people (22.1% annual growth). Xiaomi also boasts of supplying smart TVs. In 2020, 12 million were shipped.
