The former head coach of the Russian women’s biathlon team, German Wolfgang Pichler, is in hospital in an induced coma, Bild reports.
According to the publication, 65-year-old Pichler suffered a heart attack while сycling near the German Ruhpolding. He had to be resuscitated at the scene of the accident. The coach was taken to Traunstein hospital for further treatment.
According to Aftonbladet, with reference to the Swedish Olympic Committee, Pichler is in a severe stable condition.
Pichler worked with the Russian national team from 2011 to 2014. In 2019, the specialist finished his coaching career.
