Without nuclear strikes will not do: what will be the conflict between Russia and NATO

The American media write that in the event of a possible war with Russia, the United States and its NATO allies will “crush” Moscow without any problems. To implement such a scenario, the North Atlantic Alliance will have to use the entire arsenal of capabilities, including the ecosystem of interspecific interaction established between the member countries.

The National Interest magazine begins the description of the scenario of the defeat of Russia with small combat episodes that can hypothetically occur during such an armed conflict. In the picture described by journalists, a Polish F-35 fighter meets Russian ships in the Baltic Sea and sends their coordinates to an American destroyer. He, in turn, goes to meet the enemy and attacks him with anti-ship missiles.

Perhaps the same Polish F-35 interacts with Danish and Norwegian F-35s, controlling advanced UAVs, one of which detects Russian air defense systems near the Ukrainian border. According to the publication, the allied F-35, connected by a common data transmission channel, will be able to quickly send target designation data to units and units of the US Army, which are equipped with long-range precision weapons.

This is exactly the war scenario that is currently being anticipated and implemented by the Pentagon and its NATO allies, according to NI.

Such scenarios appear in the Western media with enviable regularity. From the point of view of specialists in operational and strategic planning of the use of troops, such works have very little to do with geopolitical realities.

The main problem of such scenarios lies in the logic of their authors ‘ thoughts: a fragment breaks out of the modern military-strategic situation — individual regions, samples of weapons and military equipment of the United States (NATO) and the Russian Federation, possible ways of their combat use — and then only based on this, the authors build all their other arguments, and absolutely without taking into account the specifics of the situation as a whole.

In addition, the documents of operational and strategic planning in the United States, NATO, and the Russian Federation — application plans, mobilization plans, plans for operational equipment of the country’s territory in the interests of defense, plans for the construction of the armed forces — are the highest possible degree of secrecy, fully known to an extremely narrow circle of senior leaders. By definition, there can be no leaks from such documents. So any scenarios published in various media can be safely considered only as of the authors ‘ fantasies, and most often they are completely disconnected from life.

Colonel-General explains that “any more or less plausible scenario of the beginning of hostilities between NATO and the Russian Federation” should begin with an analysis of territorial, political, economic, and even religious contradictions, which at least in theory could lead to a large-scale war in the European theater of operations.

“The frankly amateur nature of such essays in The National Interest is simply striking,” the Russian general complains.

According to the military commander, instead of analyzing the classification of modern wars, their possible nature, conditions and ways of unleashing conflicts, the possible system of strategic actions of the United States or NATO, the alleged forms of use of troops, everything in such scenarios is reduced to some local battles in individual regions.

General believes that a hypothetical war between the United States or NATO and Russia will inevitably become a world war in scope, a protracted war in duration, and a coalition war in terms of the composition of the parties.

“Due to the significant superiority of the North Atlantic Alliance in conventional weapons, the period of combat operations using only conventional weapons will be quite short, and then the parties will move on to the exchange of nuclear strikes. In the event of a nuclear war between NATO and the Russian Federation, the disastrous consequences of the use of weapons of mass destruction will be not only for the warring states but also for all other countries of the European continent,” the military commander says.

Finally, General believes that it is impossible to win a hypothetical war with Russia using only combat-ready groups of troops of the North Atlantic Alliance. In any case, we will have to resort to strategic deployment, which involves the transfer of the armed forces from peacetime to wartime, the rapid deployment of troops, strategic regroupings, and the deployment of priority strategic reserves. Without this, according to the commander, starting a serious war is just an adventure.

As General Kizyun tells us, if a possible enemy starts an operational deployment of troops, it will not go unnoticed by all the intelligence forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and will certainly be revealed in all possible details.

In such conditions, according to the military commander, without waiting for the start of hostilities, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can first launch demonstration nuclear strikes. For example, in the desert waters of the seas and oceans. And if this does not make a proper impression on the likely enemy and does not sober him up, then preventive nuclear strikes are not excluded.

And such options are described in the Military Doctrine of the Russian state

. “As for the possible actions of the Polish and Norwegian F-35 fighters, it would be better if The National Interest described them as innovations in the field of combat use and improving the tactics of fighter aircraft, without any political background. And this really deserves attention from specialists. But the inclusion of such episodes in the scenario of confrontation with the ships of the Russian Navy, actions on the Ukrainian border, and in general the war between NATO and Russia looks like a blatant provocation, especially on the eve of the meeting of the US and Russian presidents in Geneva. After all, this is not a computer game in which you can easily throw away terms, forces, and means without any consequences,” Colonel-General summed up.
