Wimbledon participants due to COVID will only be able to live in official hotels

Tennis players who will take part in the Wimbledon tournament in 2021 will only stay in official hotels due to measures to control the spread of COVID-19, organizers said.

Wimbledon is scheduled to take place in London from 28 June to 11 July. Last year, the competition did not take place for the first time since 1945.

“In line with the UK government and public health guidelines, we are introducing various infection control measures in line with our commitment to a safer, better and safer event in 2021,” the organizers said in a statement, quoted by Agence France Presse.

“One of the priority measures is to provide players with a minimum risk environment. In this regard, official hotels will be created for all players, their support groups and key groups such as officials, which will be a mandatory requirement to participate in this year’s tournament,” – the text said.
