The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have named their daughter Lilibet after the Queen’s childhood nickname.
Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II is not happy that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have named their newborn daughter a “special” name. The royal expert Angela Levin told the daily English newspaper Daily Mail.
“After what happened, I think she’s very unhappy because they were rude to her. I don’t think this is a good idea,” said expert Angela Levin.
The star couple named the baby Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. The baby’s full name is encoded with the baby pet name of Queen Elizabeth II and the name of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. But the nickname Lilibet was given to Elizabeth II by her grandfather George V, when she was still very young, could not pronounce. The queen’s late husband, Prince Philip, also called Elizabeth II Lilibet, but rarely and only in a narrow family circle.
“It was a very personal nickname from her husband, who died not so long ago. Prince Charles would never call his mother Lilibet. He never used it — it was a special name, especially for the Duke of Edinburgh,” Angela said.
However, members of the royal family reacted to the birth of daughter Harry and Markle, noting that they are very happy about it. An official announcement has appeared on the Buckingham Palace website.
“The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have been informed of the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s daughter and are very happy about it,” it said.
Prince Harry was congratulated on the birth of a baby girl by his brother Prince William. On his Instagram account, he posted a photo of the Duke of Sussex family and wrote a congratulatory message.
“We are all excited about this happy news about the birth of baby Lily. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan, and Archie, ” William said. After the sweet congratulations, there were even rumors that the royal family could reconcile, because the discord began after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left Buckingham Palace, leaving their royal duties. After that, the couple gave several scandalous interviews that affected the relationship in the family. Nevertheless, in public, relatives try to observe the norms of decency. However, Princes William and Harry refused to give a joint speech at the unveiling of the monument to their mother, Princess Diana.
