After counting more than 80 percent of the protocols, Vladimir Zelensky wins the presidential elections in Ukraine. More than 70 percent of the electorate voted for him. Many world leaders have already congratulated Zelensky.
French President Emmanuel Macron one of the first congratulated Zelensky. He is the only European leader who accepted two candidates for President of Ukraine before the second round.
“Thanks to the President of France Emmanuel Macron for the congratulations,” wrote Zelensky on Facebook.
The President of the United States Donald Trump also contacted Zelensky, to congratulate him, said the US special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker.
He also noted that the United States will continue to “support Ukraine’s efforts to restore its territorial integrity and counter Russian aggression.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted that he looked forward to working with Zelensky to continue to strengthen ties between Canada and Ukraine and create more opportunities for people in the countries.
The President of the European Council Donald Tusk congratulated Zelensky to the tabulation of the official results. “Free elections and peaceful change of power = strong Ukrainian democracy. Congratulations to Vladimir Zelensky. The EU is determined to continue its support,” he wrote in social networks.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg joined in the congratulations.
The leader of the Venezuelan opposition, who proclaimed himself President of the country, Juan Guaido, said that free elections are a mechanism that allows people to Express and implement their desire for change.
“As President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, I congratulate the people of Ukraine and Vladimir Zelensky on their convincing victory,” he wrote.
