When shooting in the center of New York, one person was injured

A man was injured in a shooting in Times Square, the central square of New York, reports local TV channel NBC New York, citing police.

According to the channel, at about 17.15, the man was walking along Broadway with his family when someone shot him. Apparently, the unknown people chose the target arbitrarily; it was an “innocent passerby.”

The bullet hit a 21-year-old man in the back. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.

Police are looking for two suspects in connection with the shooting. The streets in the area of the incident were closed, an investigation is underway.
