WhatsApp will add reactions to messages

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new messaging feature called “message response”. Reacting to a message is exactly what you thought it would: Reacting to a text message with emoji. While it was always possible to respond to a message by quoting it and sending an emoji in response, responding to a message will make the process more convenient for WhatsApp users.

Apps like Instagram, Twitter, Signal, Slack, and Facebook Messenger have long offered reactions to messages, so here too WhatsApp is playing catch-up with the competition.

The information about the reaction to messages on WhatsApp was first seen by WABetainfo, which believes that the feature will be available in a future update for beta testers. Similar to Instagram DM, WhatsApp users will be able to add emoji expressions to individual messages.

There is no data on exactly what this feature will look like as it is clearly in its early stages of development.
