American film studio Warner Bros. has entered into a partnership agreement with its animation division Warner Bros. Animation to create a full-length anime based on the fictional world of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. As The Hollywood Reporter reported on Thursday, the future cartoon will be called “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.”

According to the publication, the anime will be directed by Japanese animator Kenji Kamiyama, the script will be handled by Jeffrey Addis and Will Matthews, who previously worked together on the series “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” (2019). One of the writers of the original film trilogy “The Lord of the Rings” – Philippa Boyens – will act as a consultant to the creators of the picture.

Currently, auditions are being held to select actors to voice the cartoon characters. It is expected that the anime will be released in wide film distribution, but the premiere dates are not yet specified.

As the magazine explains, the plot of the new film will focus on the story of Helm the Hammer-Handed-the king of the state of Rohan, where the fortress of Helm’s Pad is located. The action will take place hundreds of years before the events in the original trilogy.
