Venezuelans met in Barbados

On the island of Barbados, negotiations are underway between the government of Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan opposition. Norway acts as a mediator.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway said: “Representatives of the main political actors of Venezuela continue negotiations. The parties stressed their readiness to find a constitutional solution.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he does not exclude the introduction of quarantine or even blockade of Venezuela. Nicolas Maduro in a televised address to the people of Venezuela condemned Trump’s statements.

Juan Guido, the leader of the National Assembly of Venezuela, the majority of which is the opposition, in January declared himself interim president of the country and called the fraud the victory of Maduro in the presidential elections of 2018. The United States and many other States recognize Guido legitimate head of state.
