Venezuela is ready for dialogue with the United States

Venezuelan foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said that the country is ready for a dialogue with the United States. This was reported on the website of the government of the Republic.

Arreaza believes that the United States failed in its strategy in Venezuela. Nevertheless, he confirmed his readiness to establish cooperation with Washington. “It’s time for diplomacy, we are ready to return to diplomacy, sit down at the negotiating table and respect each other,” the Minister said.

Arreaza noted that, in accordance with article 45 of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations, in the event of the severance of diplomatic relations, a state could entrust the protection of its Embassy to a third country. According to him, the United States entrusted to protect its representation in Caracas, Switzerland. Venezuela will entrust the protection of its Embassy to Turkey.

The situation in Venezuela escalated on January 23, when the opposition leader Juan Guaido amid mass protests declared himself interim President. The USA, a number of Latin American and European countries recognized its legitimacy. Russia supported the current head of state Nicolas Maduro. At the end of April, Guaido made an unsuccessful attempt at the “final phase” of the coup.
