US Open champion Wawrinka withdrew from the tournament in 2020

Swiss tennis player Stanislas Wawrinka will not participate in the US Open due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.

“I do not want to go to the United States in the current conditions. In New York, a special situation with coronavirus,” quotes the 35-year-old tennis player “Questions remain regarding quarantine. There are many questions and doubts regarding the US Open.”

In 2016, Wawrinka won the US Open. Now the Swiss is ranked 17th in the ranking of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (APR).

The US Open will be the first Grand Slam since the restart and will be held without spectators as scheduled – from August 31 to September 13.
