US imposed sanctions against Iranian Foreign Minister

The US imposed sanctions against Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. This was reported on the website of the US Treasury.

In the Trump administration said that Zarif heads the Iranian propaganda and disinformation on nuclear programs in the country. Also, officials believe that the Minister covers the crimes of the Iranian authorities against their own people.

The US authorities no longer intend to consider Zarif as a contact person on the part of Iran. They want to negotiate with other representatives of the country.

The Minister himself wrote on Twitter that the sanctions will not affect either himself or his family. He thanked the United States for what the country considers it “a huge threat to their interests.”

Washington’s intention to impose restrictions against Zarif became known in mid-July. Then the US authorities postponed this decision. Against the imposition of sanctions, including the Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
