US authorities have allowed clinical trials of a second coronavirus vaccine

The US Federal authorities have granted permission to start clinical trials of a second vaccine against a new type of coronavirus. This was announced at a briefing for journalists at the White House by President of the United States Donald Trump.

“Today, the second company announced that the Food and Drug Administration [under the US Department of health and human services] has authorized the start of clinical trials of its vaccine [against the new coronavirus],” the US leader said. He did not specify which firm he was referring to. However, Trump recalled that Johnson & Johnson had previously received permission to test a similar vaccine.

In addition, Trump noted that 10 “therapeutic agents” for the treatment of the disease caused by the new coronavirus are currently being tested in the United States. “This will be a fairly quick process,” the head of the us administration promised. Finally, he added, another 15 such drugs are being prepared for clinical trials.
