US army restricts travel to Italy and South Korea due to coronavirus

Previously confirmed cases of the disease in American military personnel in these countries.

The US army has decided to restrict travel to and from Italy and South Korea due to outbreaks of the coronavirus epidemic. Foreign military personnel will be banned from participating in American exercises, exchanges, and visits (these are the countries most affected by the epidemic).

An Army spokeswoman told Reuters about the decision. The decision was preceded by a report that two other military personnel tested positive for the virus: a sailor in Italy and a marine at Fort Belvoir in Virginia, a military base in the suburbs of Washington, were infected.

The results of tests on an American serviceman in South Korea were also positive.
