“Unexpected result”: the Italians won the Eurovision Song Contest

The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 was the Italian band Måneskin with the song Zitti E Buoni.

According to the results of the voting of the audience and the jury, the Italians received a total of 524 points, 25 points ahead of the nearest pursuer – France.

The last time Italy won the Eurovision Song Contest was in 1990. Overall, this is her third gold.

Unexpected result

The Italian artists themselves admitted that the results of the vote were unexpected for them.

“This is unbelievable, we didn’t expect this, and we are very happy!” -bass guitarist Victoria De Angelis said at a press conference.

The musicians thanked the fans and viewers who voted for them and said that they would release a new album before the end of the year, and a tour was planned for December. Måneskin consists of vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raji, and drummer Ethan Torchio. In November 2017, the band released its debut single Chosen. With the song Zitti E Buoni, they have already won this year’s Sanremo Music Festival.
