Kyiv is actively preparing to solve the problem of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine by military means. Russia’s permanent representative to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich stated this.
According to him, Ukrainian officials have recently been trying to “escalate military hysteria.” To do this, they use the “hackneyed myth of an external threat,” says Lukashevich. “This indicates that Kyiv is actively preparing a military scenario for solving the so-called problem of Donbas,” the Ambassador suspected.
On July 6, the commander of the naval forces of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) Alexey Neizhpapa promised that the Ukrainian fleet would return to Sevastopol. He also said that the Ukrainian Navy ships are preparing for full-scale combat operations with Russia. According to him, Kyiv expects the Russian army to attack the Kherson region to let the Dnieper water into the Crimea. In the Kremlin, Neizhpapa’s words were called stupidity and artificial whipping up of anti-Russian hysteria in Ukraine.
According to the UN human rights monitoring mission, at least 65 civilians (nine dead and 56 injured) have been victims of shelling in the Donbas since the beginning of the year. In May, the UN expressed particular concern that many children were injured.
