Ukrainian border guards are conducting joint exercises with the US Coast Guard in the Black Sea, the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported on Sunday.
“The ships of the border agencies of the United States and Ukraine at the sea crossing worked out the coherence of actions in the international tactical group. Yesterday at dawn, at a distance of more than 100 nautical miles from Odesa in the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine, at the rendezvous point, the flagship of the maritime guard of the State Border Service was met by the US Coast Guard ship Hamilton. According to the plan of the joint exercises, the ships of the border agencies of the United States and Ukraine at the sea crossing worked out the coherence of actions in the international tactical group,” the message on the agency’s website says.
It is noted that the exercises were tracked by Russian ships. In particular, as stated in the Border Service of Ukraine, two border patrol ships of the FSS of the Russian Federation were recorded nearby.
“The ships of the aggressor country then announced fictitious coordinates of closed areas, demanding to leave them, then maneuvered dangerously and tried to artificially narrow the maneuver zone for Ukrainian and American ships,” the ministry said. At the moment, the state border Guard ship “Grigory Kuropyatnikov” and the American ship Hamilton remain at sea, continuing joint exercises. The visit of a foreign ship to the port of Odesa is scheduled for May 10.
