Ukraine and the United States discussed countering the “Nord stream-2”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and US Senator Joni Ernst discussed issues of countering the completion of the construction of the “Nord stream-2,” the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held a telephone conversation with a member of the Senate Ukrainian Caucus of the US Congress, Senator Joni Ernst. Dmitry Kuleba and Joni Ernst discussed the opposition to the completion of the construction of the “Nord stream-2,” the report says.

According to the Ukrainian minister, quoted by the Foreign Ministry, “Nord stream-2 “can not only undermine the energy security of Ukraine and Europe as a whole but will certainly worsen the situation with the diversification of energy supplies to European consumers.”

“The implementation of this project will provide the Russian Federation with the opportunity to use energy as an additional tool of a hybrid war against the West,” Kuleba added. It is noted that the parties also discussed the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two states.
