UFC president reacted emotionally to Iran’s decision to execute Afkari fighter

UFC President Dana White has called on Iranian authorities to overturn the death sentence of fighter Navid Afkari, who was accused of participating in anti-government street demonstrations in 2018.

“He went to a peaceful protest in Iran – and he was sentenced to this. This caught my attention.

First, he is human. Secondly, he is one of us. He can become one of our fighters. The only thing I thought about was to call President Donald Trump and see what can be done to help him. He said: let’s see, let me talk to my administration, and then it will become clear if something can be done to save his life.

I would like to say that I humbly and respectfully ask the Iranian authorities to cancel the verdict and spare his life, ”White said on his Instagram.
