Mario Diaz-Balart and Ben McAdams put themselves in quarantine.
Two US congressmen, Mario Diaz-Balart from Florida and Ben McAdams from Utah, reported that their tests for coronavirus had come back positive.
Thus, they became the first members of Congress to contract this respiratory disease.
Republican Diaz-Balart released a statement saying that he had placed himself in quarantine after Friday’s vote in the House of Representatives.
He said that he did not go home to South Florida because of his wife’s illness; she is an exceptionally high-risk group.
The 58-year-old Congressman said that on Saturday night, he had a fever and a headache, and “recently” he was told that his tests for the coronavirus had come back positive.
McAdams, from Utah, said in a statement that he developed symptoms of a “mild cold” on Saturday night after returning from Washington, and that he self-isolated himself at home on Sunday.
