Two of the men who plotted to kidnap the Governor of Michigan served in the United States Marine Corps

We are talking about 42-year-old Joseph Morrison and 23-year-old Daniel Harris.

Two of the 13 extremists who plotted to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer served in the US Marine Corps. This was reported on Sunday by CNN.

“We are aware of the circumstances concerning these two individuals and will provide all possible assistance to the competent authorities conducting the investigation,” the Marine Corps press service quoted the TV company as saying. “The charges do not characterize the Marine Corps, contradict the oath to protect the Constitution that every marine takes, and do not correspond to our main principles – honor, courage, and loyalty,” the press service of the corps added.

We are talking about 42-year-old Joseph Morrison and 23-year-old Daniel Harris. The first enlisted in the marine corps in March 2015, rose to the rank of lance corporal, and retired last week for reasons unrelated to what happened in Michigan. Harris completed his service in June 2019 with the rank of corporal.

The arrest of 13 extremists was announced on October 8 by representatives of the state Prosecutor’s office. The attackers are charged with conspiracy to kidnap Whitmer, other officials, and other crimes. At a press conference, the Governor of the state expressed the opinion that members of two paramilitary groups were ready not only to kidnap but also to kill her.
