Twitter will flag posts with misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines

According to the new rules, a user who receives two or three warnings will lose access to their account for 12 hours.

Twitter management has announced measures to combat misinformation about the spread of vaccines against the new coronavirus. The corresponding statement was published on the company’s website on Monday.

“Starting today, we will flag tweets that may contain misleading information about COVID-19 vaccines<…>,” the document states. According to the microblogging service management, such measures were introduced on a par with existing ones, thanks to which more than 8.4 thousand publications were removed from the platform for spreading disinformation about the coronavirus.

Also, the management of Twitter decided to introduce a system of warnings for violating these rules of behavior in the social network. For example, a user who receives two or three warnings will be denied access to their account for 12 hours. Those who are warned four times will lose access to their account for a week, and if the violations continue, their account will be permanently blocked.

In March last year, new rules came into force for users of the platform, designed to minimize misinformation about the causes of the disease, ways to prevent the disease caused by the coronavirus, etc.
