Twitter will alert users to misinformation in posts

Twitter will fight disinformation in a new way: if a user wants to like questionable content, a warning will appear on the screen that the information may be fake.

The social network emphasized that it is very important to explain why certain posts related to the US elections, coronavirus, or media manipulation are misleading.

Users will now receive a warning that the tweet they want to like has been flagged as misleading.

Earlier, the social network introduced similar warnings when trying to retweet publications with controversial information or an article that the user did not read. According to the company, this reduced the spread of false information by 29%.

How exactly a warning when trying to like will affect the spread of misinformation is not yet clear.
