The speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Shentop stressed that the sanctions strengthen the countries against which they are imposed.
Turkey will never abandon the military operation in Syria because of the sanctions imposed by the United States, the speaker of the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey Mustafa Shentop told reporters in Belgrade on Tuesday.
“No way. Turkey will not allow the creation of a corridor for terrorist groups right at the borders,” Shentop said, answering a question.
He added that Kurdish groups “are terrorist organizations that, under the cover of coalition forces, are trying to create an Autonomous zone” near the borders of Turkey.
Shentop also said that the sanctions imposed by the United States because of the military operation in Syria did not come as a surprise to Turkey.
“There is nothing unexpected in this because it has already been discussed in the US. They think they can manage international politics by imposing sanctions, but they are wrong. Sanctions are not the way to achieve results in international politics, based on world experience,” Shentop said. He added that in fact, the sanctions strengthen the countries on which they are imposed,” Turkey will not be an exception.”
