Turkey resumed the operation in Syria despite the agreement with the United States

Ankara resumed its offensive on Friday on the town of Ras al-Ain in northeastern Syria, despite an agreement with Washington on a temporary ceasefire. Al Mayadeen TV channel reported, citing Kurdish sources.

Earlier, reported the resumption of shooting and clashes in the city. Turkish authorities have not yet commented on this information.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the start of operation “Source of peace” in the Northeast of Syria. The operation is mainly directed against the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party in Turkey, with which the United States cooperates, and the terrorist organization ISIS.

Sometime after the start of hostilities after threats of sanctions against Turkey from the United States, the countries agreed to suspend the operation, said US Vice President Michael Pence.
