Turkey is outraged by Greece’s plans to stage a shooting near the island of Kastellorizo

Greece has decided to conduct a shooting exercise near the island of Kastellorizo, the country’s Navy said.

The Heraklion station of the hydrographic service of the Greek Navy has issued an international Navtex alert, Free News reports.

It is reported that on July 27-30 in the region will be held “exercises of the coast guard with the shooting.” In this regard, “seafarers are prohibited from crossing the designated area.”
Ankara said that the initiative of Athens is illegal.

Because of the island of Kastellorizo, war may break out. The island allows Greece to claim a Maritime zone of 40 thousand square kilometers. Turkey recognizes Greek control over only six nautical miles of territorial waters around the island.
