“Hi, this is Don Jr. I am very happy to be here at Telegram… I need a place where I can communicate with my friends,” Trump Jr. said in a video he posted on his Telegram channel.
According to him, Telegram provides equal opportunities for conservatives and liberals and does not participate in the “purge of conservatives” in traditional social networks.
“I don’t need a platform where I have an advantage. I don’t want a closed world of conservatives. I need a place where my ideas and their bad ideas compete with each other. I think now we have such a place,” Trump Jr. explained.
The account of Donald Trump Jr., which a week ago had about 300 thousand subscribers, has now crossed the mark of 540 thousand. Simultaneously, his Twitter account is still much more popular: there, Donald Jr. has more than 6.6 million followers. Twitter has in the past blocked Trump Jr.’s account for responses that the company said were contrary to its policies.
Supporters of Republicans, and in particular former President Donald Trump, are migrating en masse to Telegram after leading social networks, led by Twitter, blocked the accounts of Trump Sr. and thus deprived him of his favorite way of communicating with his supporters. Trump was blocked on charges of inciting violence in the Capitol on January 6. On the same charge, he was impeached by the House of Representatives. The Senate intends to consider the impeachment retroactively after leaving trump with the post.
