A lawsuit was filed to prevent the US President’s tax returns from being provided to the investigation.
US President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit in the Court of Appeals, demanding to prohibit the execution of a lower court decision that ordered him to provide the investigation with tax returns for the past eight years. The court’s decision is related to the investigation of the President’s business structures.
Trump’s defense claims that the court’s decision is politically motivated.
The hearing is scheduled for September 25. Trump’s lawyers said that if the Appeals Court does not support the claim, they will challenge it in the US Supreme court.
The previous six US presidents – three Republicans and three Democrats-have released their tax returns.
