Trump urged not to delay licensing of the COVID-19 vaccine

US President Donald Trump has called on the US food and drug administration (FDA) not to delay issuing a permit to use the COVID–19 vaccine, he wrote on his Twitter account.

“Moderna is applying for permission to use the vaccine in an emergency. The FDA must act quickly!” Trump wrote.

The application form Moderna is expected to be filed with the FDA on Monday. Earlier, a similar application was submitted by the American company Pfizer, developing a vaccine, and the German company BioNTech. As previously stated by the US Secretary of Health Alex Azar, the FDA Advisory Committee’s meeting on testing the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine is scheduled for December 10, and this vaccine may be approved in a few days after that. It is expected that the Moderna vaccine, in turn, may be approved a week later.
