Trump spoke out in defense of Giuliani

The President posted a tweet with words of support after reports that the Federal Prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the actions of his personal lawyer in Ukraine.

President Donald Trump on Saturday defended his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, dedicating a separate post to the lawyer on Twitter. The President described Giuliani as a” legendary criminologist “and a”wonderful lawyer.” The presidential tweet came shortly after reports that Federal prosecutors in New York had opened an investigation into Giuliani to find out whether the former New York mayor violated the law by engaging in lobbying activities in Ukraine.
“Now they’ve taken on the legendary criminologist and best mayor in new York city history, Rudy Giuliani,” the President wrote.

“He may seem a little rough around the edges sometimes, but he is also a great guy and wonderful lawyer. Such a one-sided Witch Hunt going on in the USA. Deep State. Shameful!” Trump added.

The New York Times late Friday reported on an investigation opened by the Manhattan Federal Prosecutor’s office into Giuliani’s actions in Ukraine. The investigation is underway in the case against two of his business partners, Ukrainian-born Lev Parnassus and Belarusian-born Igor Fruman.

Commenting on the NYT report, Giuliani told FreeNews: “I’ve never lobbied anything for anyone. If they want to ask me, I’ll be happy to prove it. But they didn’t ask.”
