Trump signed an executive order canceling economic privileges for Hong Kong

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he had signed a decree abolishing economic preferences for Hong Kong.

“Today, I also signed a decree on the termination of preferences for Hong Kong. The (US) attitude towards Hong Kong will now be the same as towards mainland China – no special privileges, no special treatment in the economy, and no exports of sensitive technologies. In addition to this, as you know, we are imposing serious duties and have imposed extensive duties on China,” Trump said at a news conference.

The decree was signed in connection with the decision of the Chinese authorities to restrict the autonomy of Hong Kong, the President explained.
