Donald Trump secured the nomination of the official presidential candidate from the Republican Party, having received the necessary number of delegates to the party Congress.

Trump, who faced only nominal opposition within the party, won more than 1,276 delegates needed for the nomination after winning primaries in Florida and Illinois on Tuesday.

The Associated Press conducted the delegate count.

Thus, Trump has become the undisputed Republican nominee, while the Democrats continue a tense series of primaries involving former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
