The US President Donald Trump believes that he has every right to impose a state of emergency in the country in order to obtain bypassing Congress funds for the construction of the barrier on the US-Mexican border. This Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
“The law on this matter is clear — I mean, we have every right to introduce a state of emergency in the country,” he said. “If we don’t make a deal with Congress, most likely I will do it,” the President added. – I see no reason why I didn’t, I have a right to. The law is 100% on my side.”
Trump was also asked how long he was willing to wait before the introduction of the state of emergency. The US President replied: “I Think we’ll see what happens in a few days.” More exact terms he didn’t call.
Since December 22- already 20 days – in the United States partially suspended the work of the Federal government due to lack of budgetary funds. This was due to the fact that the Republicans and Democrats in Congress have not yet been able to agree on the parameters of the temporary state budget, in which the President and Republicans in an ultimatum want to include more than $ 5 billion for the construction of a physical barrier on the border with Mexico. Democrats say they will not approve the allocation of such large funds from the Treasury, and are ready to offer only $ 1.3 billion.
About a quarter of the government remained without funding, in particular, the state Department, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of trade and the Ministry of internal security. For other state institutions, the Congress had previously approved the allocation of funds until the end of September 2019.
