Trump responded to Iran’s offer to lift sanctions in exchange for a meeting

Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the head of the White House proposed to lift all sanctions.

“Iran wanted me to lift the sanctions imposed on them for the sake of the meeting. I said, of course not!”- wrote the American leader on Twitter in response to the statements of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. He previously said that trump proposed in talks with European countries on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York to lift all sanctions against Tehran. Rouhani added that the proposal “was not in an acceptable form” for Iran. On Wednesday, he called the main condition for Tehran to start negotiations with Washington the lifting of sanctions and a return to the nuclear deal.

The problem of the Iranian nuclear dossier has sharply worsened after Washington’s unilateral withdrawal from the Joint comprehensive action plan (JCPOA) on May 8, 2018, and the introduction of us economic sanctions against Iran in the field of oil exports. Trump has repeatedly stated that he is ready for dialogue with Tehran. At the same time, he said he was interested in replacing the existing JCPOA with another Treaty that would include not only Iran’s nuclear program but also a wide range of issues, including Tehran’s missile program and its regional policy.
