Trump promised Britain a “comprehensive trade agreement”

US President Donald Trump has promised to conclude a comprehensive trade agreement with the UK after it leaves the European Union. This statement trump made at a meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May in London on Tuesday, June 4.

“We will have a very, very large-scale trade agreement, it will be a very fair deal,” US President said, expressing confidence that it will meet the expectations of both sides.

Trump also noted that may has already done a “fantastic job” as head of the UK government, and urged her “not to hurry with the departure” from this position, and at least wait for the conclusion of a trade agreement with the United States. The British Prime Minister, in turn, advocated strengthening economic cooperation with Washington, as well as joint work to preserve the principles of free, fair and open trade.

May announced her resignation as head of the Conservative party on May 24, citing insoluble contradictions with the Parliament on the plans of the Kingdom’s exit from the European Union as the reason.
