Trump: OPEC+ wants to cut oil production by 20 million barrels a day

Earlier, an agreement was announced to reduce production by 10 million barrels per day.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that OPEC+ is discussing reducing oil production by 20 million barrels a day – twice as much as was agreed a day earlier.

“Being involved in the negotiations, to put it mildly, the volume of production cuts that OPEC + is seeking is 20 million barrels per day, not 10 million as mostly reported,” he tweeted.

OPEC members, Russia, and several other countries said on Sunday they had agreed to cut oil production by 9.7 million barrels a day in May and June. The agreement was reached after four days of negotiations and amid calls from President Trump to cut production to stop prices falling.
