The white house announced the introduction of the Senate candidacy of William Barr for the US attorney General. It was officially introduced by the President Donald Trump. Mr. Barr is to replace Jeff Sessions, who was fired in early November.
The legal Committee of the Senate appointed a hearing on the candidacy on January 15-16, reports Reuters.
Former Prosecutor and influential Senator from Alabama Jeff Sessions joined the election headquarters of Mr. Trump at the very beginning of the election campaign in 2016. During the hearings on the approval of his candidacy for the post of Prosecutor General in the Senate, Mr. Sessions hid from legislators his contacts with Russian representatives, including personal meetings with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak.
Because of this, having already headed the Ministry of justice, he was forced to officially withdraw from the investigation on the possible Russian intervention.
