The US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that he has nominated Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for international Affairs David Malpass to be the next President of the World Bank.
Calling D. Malpass “remarkable man”, D. Trump said he has started “a wide search for a replacement” for the former head of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim, who resigned.
“I know that David is the right person to handle this incredibly important job,” D. Trump added.
From Thursday until March 14, the Board of Directors of the World Bank will accept candidates for the post of head of the organization. It is planned to elect a new President on the eve of the IMF and WB spring meetings scheduled for April 12-14 in Washington.
