Trump has applied martial law to create hypersonic weapons

President Donald Trump acted under a wartime law to urgently implement programs to create hypersonic weapons, the White House said.

The law on defense production, adopted in 1950 after the Korean conflict began, is applied in war or emergencies.

According to the American President, this document is the most cost-effective and appropriate alternative method for fulfilling the tasks set for the development of such technologies.

Earlier, the Pentagon has repeatedly recognized the lag behind Russia and China in the production of hypersonic weapons. Domestic experts noted that the US military needs another five years to create existing Russian technologies.
