The President is outraged that the next hearing will take place during his trip to the NATO summit.
US President Donald Trump said that he does not intend to send a lawyer to an impeachment hearing in the House Judiciary Committee, because “this whole idea is a fabrication.”
Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler invited trump and his lawyer to attend the first meeting of the new phase of the impeachment investigation.
“What they’re doing to our country is a real disgrace,” Trump said on Monday as he boarded a presidential helicopter.
According to Free News, trump expressed outrage at the fact that the hearing will take place at a time when he will be at the summit of NATO leaders in London.
“This is one of the most important trips for the President,” he said, adding that the date of the summit was agreed a year ago.
The President stressed that Republicans unanimously condemn the idea of impeachment, and Democrats are only harmed by the investigation. “I think it will greatly strengthen the popularity of Republicans,” Trump said.
He also recalled the recent words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who said he had never spoken to trump “from a quid pro quo position.”
Zelensky also told reporters from four publications (Time, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, and Gazeta Wyborcza) that at a time when Ukraine is at war with Russia, the United States, as an ally of Kyiv, should not block military aid.
“I think it’s just a matter of fairness. Not the quid pro quo principle,” he said.
According to trump, Zelensky “said that President Trump has done absolutely nothing wrong and that should put an end to everything.”
