Trump criticized the performance of the US women’s national football team at the Olympics

Former US President Donald Trump criticized the US women’s national football team, which won bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In the match for third place, the US national team players beat the Australian team with a score of 4:3.In the final of the Olympic competitions, the teams of Sweden and Canada will compete for gold on August 6.

“If our football team was not left-wing, they would have won the gold medal instead of the bronze,” Trump said in a statement.

The former US president believes that there are “few patriots” in the US women’s national team.

“The woman with purple hair (Megan Rapinoe) played terribly and spent too much time thinking about the politics of the radical left and not doing her job,” Trump added.

In July 2020, Trump announced that he no longer intends to watch the matches of the US national football team since the players were allowed not to get up during the national anthem. The rule was adopted in 2017 after the national team football player Megan Rapinoe knelt during the anthem in 2016 in solidarity with the American football player Colin Kaepernick, who thus drew attention to police brutality and racially motivated harassment of people.
