Trump changed his residence from New York to Florida because of taxes

US President Donald Trump confirmed that he changed his permanent residence from New York to the city of Palm Beach (Florida). The corresponding message he posted on Thursday on his Twitter page.

— My family and I will make Palm Beach, Florida, our permanent home. I adore New York and the people of New York, but unfortunately, even though I pay millions of dollars in taxes to the city, state, and local governments every year, political leaders in both the city and the state have treated me very badly. Few people were treated so badly. I did not want to make that decision, but in the end, it would be better for everyone. As President, I will always be ready to help New York and the wonderful people of New York, he will always hold a special place in my heart,” – the head of the American administration wrote.

Earlier, the New York Times, citing Palm Beach County court documents, reported that Trump changed his permanent residence in connection with tax issues.

Trump in September notified the court that his permanent residence should be considered the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. The former place of permanent residence of the head of state was the skyscraper Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York. Trump Tower is the headquarters of the Trump Organization group of companies, and housed the Republican campaign headquarters in 2016.

The US President indicated as other places of residence addresses of the White House in Washington and a private Golf club in Bedminster (New Jersey), where he rests for several weeks in the summer.

US first lady Melania Trump also changed her place of permanent residence to Palm Beach (Florida).
