Trump canceled secret talks with the Taliban

US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of talks with the leaders of the Taliban and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai after the terrorist attack in Kabul. The American leader said in his Twitter account.

“Unbeknownst to virtually everyone, key Taliban leaders and the Afghan President alone were going to meet me secretly at Camp David on Sunday. They were coming to the United States tonight. Unfortunately, to create false leverage, they confessed to the attack in Kabul,” Trump wrote.

The head of the United States added that the incident killed 12 people.

In late July, a government delegation was formed in Afghanistan to negotiate with the Taliban.

The American side has been negotiating a ceasefire and the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan in recent months. In the spring, the Pentagon reported that the country for the first time since the beginning of the war had a chance to achieve peace.
