US President Donald Trump, at a meeting with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, said about the excellent relations between the two countries.
“Working shoulder to shoulder with President Lopez Obrador, we are taking our relations to a new height and building strong economic and security cooperation. Together, we have solved many of the most difficult cases that our two countries face,” Trump told reporters at the signing ceremony of a joint statement with the President of Mexico.
He noted the important role of the new us-Mexico-Canada trilateral economic agreement (USMCA). Trump also said that there are 36 million citizens of Mexican origin in the United States, which strengthens local society.
In turn, Lopez Obrador said that 1.5 million Americans live in Mexico.
Referring to the relations between the two countries, Lopez Obrador said: “It is possible to understand each other without arrogance.” According to him, it was in this spirit that his meeting with Trump was sustained.
Trump has clashed with the Mexican leadership in the past and made the promise to build a wall with Mexico, one of the main ones in his election campaign. Trump also promised that Mexico would pay for the wall, but nothing like this happened.
